Look behind the face fabric

Choose the Right Curtain Lining

Lining changes privacy, light transmission, body, weight, color appearance and insulation. Choose it for the room—not only the product photo.

Real light-filtering curtain and layered privacy and blackout linings

The close-up shows how face fabric, white privacy lining and dense blackout lining differ in real light.

Single unlined fabric layer

Unlined

Lightest hand and most natural textile character. Suits decorative sheers and spaces where privacy is not required.

Face fabric plus standard lining

Privacy / Standard

Adds body and face-fabric protection while reducing visibility. Verify nighttime privacy with a sample.

Face fabric plus dense blackout lining

Room Darkening / Blackout

Dense construction substantially reduces transmitted light and adds weight. Performance varies by the exact product.

Face fabric, interlining and back lining

Thermal / Interlining

An additional insulating layer adds body and may reduce drafts and heat transfer at the window.

Choose by room

Bedroom / nurseryPrioritize privacy and gap control; consider room-darkening or blackout construction.

Living / diningBalance privacy, daylight and a natural drape; standard lining is versatile.

Media roomUse dense lining and plan returns, overlap and top coverage to reduce edge light.

Drafty openingConsider interlining, adequate fullness and close wall coverage.

Blackout fabric does not automatically make a blackout room. Light may enter above, below, at the sides or between panels. Wider side coverage, center overlap and an appropriate track/return improve the result.
